On December 20th, the12th Education Informatization Work Conference and the 3rd User Conference of Sun Yat-sen University were held on South Campus. Xu Jiarui, Executive Vice President of SYSU, and Peng Hongguang, Director of Guangdong Center of Educational Technology and Director of Audio-Visual Education Center of Guangdong Province attended and addressed the conference. More than 500 people from functional units, schools and departments, and student organizations attended the conference.

Executive Vice President Xu Jiarui emphasized in his speech that “Demand, Participation, Service and Efficiency” are the key words in the informatization construction of the University and that efforts should be made to enhance the close relationship between informatization construction and the development of education. He also pointed out that demand is the fundamental force in driving the development of informatization while efficiency is an important standard to test whether informatization construction is successful, therefore, we should try to achieve down-to-earth efficiency through demand.

In his speech, Director Peng Hongguang fully affirmed the progress of the University’s education informatization work and its accurate grasp of the pulse of time.

Guo Qingshun, Director of Network and Information Technology Center, Sun Yat-sen University, gave a work report entitled “Review of the Past Ten Years and Prospective on the Next Ten Years of Digital Campus”, with a summary on the innovative practice in the construction of digital campus. The implementation of the strategy of strengthening the University by informatization, and the innovation of mechanisms and systems have led to some achievements in application, technology, practical experience and management culture. At the same time, we realized that a good construction of soft environment of informatization in a multilevel and multidimensional style is the key to the sustainable development and leapfrog development of informatization. Furthermore, Director Guo Qingshun proposed to develop cloud service in digital campus construction. Professor Yu Yang from School of Software gave a report on behalf of the experts.

The interaction session used the network interactive platform to connect students on Zhuhai Campus and North Campus online, who shared their experience of digital campus with the teachers and students present at the conference, showing the convenience brought by the University’s digital construction to the study and life of teachers and students.

A forum on “Industries Promoting Informatization Construction” was held during the conference. According to the spirit of the National Education Informatization Work Videophone Conference, hot issues on education informatization were discussed.

This conference set up a special “Contribution Award for Digital Campus Construction” in order to commend departments, experts and workers at basic level who have made extraordinary contributions to the construction and application of digital campus over the years. The conference also gave commendation to annual advanced individuals in the application of educational technology and winners in the DV Contest of Informatized Teaching and Learning from Multiple Perspectives. Executive Vice President Xu Jiarui presented the awards to the award winners.
