The award ceremony of the IBM “Elite” Solutions Design Campus Contest in Guangzhou was held on East Campus of SYSU on the afternoon of June 21st. The team Callisto, composed of students from School of Software , including Lin Jiarong, Huang Yuzhao, Peng Weile and Cai Bo, won the first prize, while the team Wf. United won the third prize, which composed of Li Guanxing and Wang Jie, students from School of Information Science and Technology, Liu Sheng and Yao Ruipeng, students from School of Software. Teams from Jinan University and South China University of Technology won the second prize and “award for outstanding individual” respectively. It is reported that, the champion team will get the IBM summer internship and the chance to participate in the “elite” training courses for free.

The contest, sponsored by IBM China Development Lab and organized by Guangzhou ChangeMan Technologies Co., Ltd, attracted students from SYSU, South China University of Technology, Jinan University and South China Agricultural University. As SYSU being one of the co-organizers, School of Software started to help organize the contest from April of this year, organizing and promoting a total number of 57 students and 16 teams to participate, which took up about a half of the Guangzhou teams. Teachers from School of Software formed a team for judging and guidance, guiding the teams of SYSU and selecting 5 outstanding teams of them to participate in the Guangzhou contest.
