SYSU Holds Training Class for Administrative Unit Leaders

On the afternoon of December 25, 2015, the training class for leaders of administrative units at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) opened at Swasey Hall on the University’s South Campus. Prof. Luo Jun, President of SYSU, attended the opening ceremony and presented a report entitled “Transforming Mindsets and Striving to Become Capable, Competent, and Practical Leaders”. More than 160 directors and deputy directors of administrative units, directly affiliated units, and industry groups of SYSU took part in the training. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Wu Shaoxin, Director of the Organization Department of the SYSU Committee of the CPC.

 
President Luo Jun presents the report entitled “Transforming Mindsets and Striving to Become Capable, Competent and Practical Leaders”.
 
After introducing the University’s current situation, development goals, realization routes, and comprehensive reform program, President Luo Jun put forward three requirements for the participants: first, be clear about the responsibilities of the positions, be active in shouldering relevant responsibilities, and accomplish the tasks with appropriate strategies; second, implement the “four must-have” rules and increase efficiency; third, transform working styles from “passive” to “active”, from “following one’s bent” to “following the four must-have rules”, and from “working office hours” to “meeting task deadlines”.

The training class is a specific measure to implement the Ordinance on Cadre Education and Training Work issued by the CPC Central Committee on October 14. The main purpose is to enable the participants to deepen their understanding of the guidelines and initiatives of the University’s reform and development in the new era, to have a timely understanding about our recent progress, to be fully aware of their missions and responsibilities, to actively adapt to the changes in the University’s institutional management and development model, to transform mindsets, and to be united in our concerted efforts to develop SYSU into the first tier among universities nationwide.
