In order to promote the development of Biostatistics and Medical Bioinformatics, in line with the principle of complementary advantages and common development, SYSU has reached intention of strategic cooperation with U.S Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd. Since May 2011, SYSU has been discussing cooperation matters with U.S Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd. The two sides have paid exchange visits and signed Mutual Confidential Disclosure Agreement in Nov, 2011. Recently, the two sides have reached a consensus on signing the Collaboration Agreement. The Agreement covers joint research areas, academic communication forms, working consultations as well as intellectual property.

The visit of Dr. Keith A. Soper marks the formal start of the cooperation between SYSU and U.S Merck Sharp & Dohme Ltd, which will help promote the school personnel training, academic research, international exchange and common progress.
