Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Xu Ruisheng, paid a visit to SYSU on Feb. 17th to inspect the university as new term began. Xu said, Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and government would implement the provisions in the Protocol of Co-establishing Universities by Provincial Governments and Ministry of Education, and support SYSU as always; they also expected SYSU to uphold advanced educational philosophy, turning itself into a first-rate university in the world.

During the inspection, Xu Ruisheng visited the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies and State Key Laboratory of Biocontrol and Resource Utilization in the campus. Guangdong Province was proud to have SYSU, who always played a prominent part in the advancement of Chinese history, said Xu Ruisheng. He also stated that the Provincial Party Committee and government would implement the provisions in the Protocol of Co-establishing Universities by Provincial Governments and Ministry of Education, and support SYSU as always.
