From September 9-10, opening ceremonies for new students were solemnly held at South Campus, North Campus and Zhuhai Campus respectively. The newly enrolled 7900 undergraduates and more than 6000 postgraduates and Ph. D students swore at the ceremony to bear the school motto in mind to study hard and contribute to the society. Attending the gathering were administrative officials Zhen Detao, Huang Daren, Liang Qingyin, Li Ping, Wang Jianping, Xu Ningsheng, Li Mengfeng, Chen Chunsheng, academician Su Qiang, Lin Haoran, Assistant to President Bao Jigang and deans of various schools and departments. SYSU Vice President Li Mengfeng presided over the ceremony and Vice President Chen Chunsheng and Wang Jianping administered the oath taken by new students.
