The 2011 Conference of Teachers’ Day was held together with the Summer Research Seminars from August 31st to September 2nd. School leaders such as Secretary Zheng Detao, President Xu Ningsheng, as well as some of the teacher representatives of liberal arts, science and medical science and the principals of the departments and offices concerned attended the conference.
The theme of the Teachers’ Day this year is ‘be committed to the party’s educational undertakings and to ensure the implementation of educational program outlines’. At the conference, Secretary Zheng Detao and President Xu Ningsheng expressed their sincere solicitude and festival greetings to the faculty who have been devoting themselves in the forefront of teaching and scientific research, to the staff who have been dedicating themselves at a low profile in their own positions as well as to all the retired teachers who had contributed greatly to the development of Sun Yat-sen University. The teacher representatives profoundly studied the spirits of the important speeches that General Secretary Hu Jintao delivered on the assembly in memory of the 90th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China (CPC) and the convention celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Tsinghua University. They also discussed topics such as university’s development plans, subjects construction, team development, teaching and scientific research, and proposed many pertinent suggestions. The representatives showed their determination to enhance their levels in teaching and educating students, and to make more contributions to bolstering the scientific development of educational undertakings.
Other leaders presented at the conference included Liang Qingyin, Li Ping, Yu Shiyou, Zhu Kongjun, Yan Guangmei, Wang Jianping, Xu Jiarui, Li Mengfeng, Chen Chunsheng, Xu Anlong, and the Assistant to President Wei Minghai, Xia Lianghui, Bao Jigang.
