The grading assessment of China University Media Union’s media members (paper media only, school newspapers were excluded) was accomplished recently. Through operation appraisal, presidium review, expert review, etc, SYSU Youth of our university, together with Youth RUC of Renmin University of China, Fudan Youth of Fudan University, and Orange of School of Jinling of Nanjing University, stood out from hundreds of media members that had participated in the assessment, and won the highest honor for school media——the Five-star Media Members of the University Media Union.
This grading assessment was hosted by China University Media Union, whose aim was to encourage media members to strength their content development, improve team quality, and enhance professional ability. According to the indexes such as the basic condition, professional ability and content quality of the media members, in line with the development law of university media, the Executive Presidium set the grading standard, which was carried out by the Union Secretariat under the guidance of the Academic Council of University Media Union. This assessment was consisted of segments such as members questionnaire self-evaluation, National Presidium of the University Media Union review and expert review. The assessment activity has picked out 39 media members throughout the country that meet the criterion of three-star or higher levels, including 24 three-star media members, 11 four-star ones, and 4 five-star ones.
China University Media Union, organized by China Youth Daily and 63 famous universities in China, was formally established with the support of the Central Commission of China Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Education in 2008. This assessment displayed again the comprehensive quality and professional ability of our school media. SYSU Youth would consistently stick to the philosophy of “free, diverse, enthusiastic, acute, profound”, keep a foothold in SYSU while take a broad view of China and pay close attention to the world, so as to provide teachers and students of SYSU with professional news service.
