The evening of April 1, the opening ceremony for the "Student Development Center of Software and Technology," was held on the East Campus. Li Wenjun, Dean of the Department of Software, Ding Xiaoqiu, Deputy-secretary of Communist Youth League of SYSU, Yin Xiaochuan, Deputy-director of Office of Academic Affairs, Liu Shuyu, Director of Teaching and Experiment Center of East Campus and others were present at the opening ceremony .Abput 100 of student and teacher representatives from the Department of Software were present at the ceremony.. The ceremony was presided over by Tan Yingyao, Deputy-secretary of Party of the Department of Software.
At the meeting, President Li Wenjun presented the background, tasks, and modes of operation, as well as the guidelines of staff training. He expressed his appreciations to the Office of Academic Affairs, Communist Youth League of SYSU, the Teaching Experiment Centers of East Campus, other functional units for their supports. Meanwhile, the principal of functional department and teacher representative gave speeches and confirmed the efforts and accomplishments of the software center in organizing students to take parts in extra-curricular activities..
The development center of software and technology of SYSU isco-founded by the department of software, the teaching and experiment center of east campus, the Office of Academic Affairs and Communist Youth League of SYSU, the main task of which is to organize students to take part in academic activities, to improve the research ability of students, to foster innovation and applied ability, and to develop the activity levels of students from our school. The Student Development Center of Software and Technology of SYSU" is formerly known as the “Information Technology Development Centre of SYSU (Software Innovation Platform). The center has held student competition and activities several times, such as the First Innovation Forum of SYSU, Journal of Financial and Information Technology Competition and the "United States Cup" design contest financial software, software innovation and competition, "Golden Butterfly" Software Competition in China, "IBM" Campus Championship, "Borch Cup" National College Embedded Design Competition (South Division) and so on. Teams by Centre-led organizations had participated in many domestic provincial competition of technology and gained outstanding marks. The center plays an important role in organizing student technical innovation activities, creating atmosphere for academic competition, training students’ innovative ability and applied ability, broadening their professional views.
