20th Anniversary Celebration of SUMS Hong Kong Alumni Association Held in Hong Kong

On the night of August 26, the celebration party of the 20th anniversary of SUMS Hong Kong Alumni Association was held in Hong Kong. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU, Chen Ruzhu, President of SUMS Alumni Association, Li Hanrong, Secretary-General of SYSU Alumni Association, Xia Dan, Party Secretary of Faculty of Medical Sciences, and over ten representatives of SYSU Alumni Association, alumni representatives and former teachers made a special trip to attend the celebration. Doctor Liang Zhihong, a leading celebrity in the Hong Kong medical community, and leaders of medical friendly societies attended the meeting to convey congratulations. SYSU leaders, distinguished guests and medical alumni, a total of over 160 people had a joyous gathering to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong Alumni Association of SUMS.

Vice President Li Mengfeng mentioned in his speech that former SUMS President Ke Lin had the wish to “build SUMS into a bright pearl in Southeast Asia”, and he regarded Hong Kong alumni as a key link in the process of realizing this goal. Vice President Li Mengfeng introduced the medical development of SYSU in recent years, and reported the good news that SYSU medical students had ranked first and won Special Award in National Medical University Students Clinical Skills Competition for two consecutive years. He said that SYSU medical sciences are narrowing the gap with world first-class medical universities and colleges, and hope to have more collaborations with the Hong Kong medical community.
President Chen Ruzhu said that in attending the 20th anniversary he brought the congratulations to SUMS Hong Kong Alumni Association from alumni at home and abroad, who have always cared about the work and achievements of Hong Kong alumni and wish all Hong Kong alumni a better development.
The alumni repaid the Alma Mater’s consideration and blessings with warm applause. They took this precious opportunity to greet each other and renew their old friendships. During the celebration, SYSU leaders, distinguished guests and alumni volunteered to sing on the stage. Affectionate songs and familiar melodies charmed everyone, applause and “encore” rose one after another. Everybody was in high spirits and seemed to go back to their good old days studying in the Alma Mater.
